If you hold an account in the Punjab National Bank, then this is an important update for you. PNB has issued a warning to those account holders where there is no transaction processed for the last 3 years and there is no balance in these accounts. The bank has said that such inactive accounts will be closed within a month.

PNB has revealed this information on a social media platform ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter). Bank also added that the accounts will be calculated on the basis of April 30, 2024 i.e. the calculation for three years will be done till April 30, 2024. PNB has taken this decision to protect accounts from misuse.

How To Keep Such Accounts Active

The bank has said that all such accounts will be closed without any further notice after one month of the publication of this notice, if the customer wants to keep these accounts active, they need to submit KYC documents to their respective branches or else these accounts will be closed within the one month from their notice.

These Accounts Holders Need Not Have To Worry

PNB said that accounts linked to Demat accounts, lockers with active standing instructions, student accounts with customers below 25 years of age, accounts of minors, accounts for specific purposes like PMJJBY/PMSBY/SSY. /Accounts opened for API, DBT and accounts frozen by the order of the Court, Income Tax Department or any other statutory authority will not be closed under this process.
