India’s largest IT company, TCS has introduced major changes to its HR policies, delivering major blows to its employees. These changes will directly impact the workforce, as employees will now have to work from the office. TCS has not only completely phased out its Work From Home (WFH) policy but also introduced several other major changes.
TCS has recently decided to change its Deployment Policy for some employees and upskill them. They have made major changes that directly impact employees.
End of Work From Home Policy:
TCS has decided that it will no longer give the option of Work From Home. However, in cases of emergencies, a Flexible Work option may still be granted, but only after approval from the Resource Management Group (RMG).
Mandatory Workdays:
Employees are now required to work for a minimum of 225 days in a year.
Bench Time Fixed at 35 Days:
Bench time, the period during which employees are not assigned to any project, has been capped at 35 days.
In IT companies, most work is project-based. Large companies like TCS hire many employees, some of them work on projects while others wait for future project assignments. This waiting period is called Bench Time.
Under the new policy, employees who are not assigned to any project and are on the bench must dedicate 4 to 6 hours daily to upskilling themselves.
