Noel Tata led Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), part of the Tata Group, has introduced significant changes to its work-from-office (WFO) policy by tightening attendance requirements for employees. The updated policy includes adjustments to personal emergency days, entry deadlines, and backend processes, according to a media report.
Personal Emergency Days: Employees can now designate up to 6 days per quarter for personal emergencies and unused personal emergency days can be carried forward to the next quarter.
Exceptional Entries: Employees can submit up to 30 exceptions in a single entry due to space constraints. Network-related issues can be given for 5 entries simultaneously. Exceptional requests not processed within 10 days will be automatically rejected.
Backdated Entries: Backdated WFO entries are permitted up to two days prior to the current date. Missing WFO entries for the current month can be submitted until the 5th of the next month.
Ban On Bulk Uploads: Bulk uploads or backend entries have been prohibited, ensuring stricter adherence to the updated policy.
TCS has already implemented a five-day office attendance requirement, setting it apart from other Indian IT companies that allow two or three days of office attendance per week. However, the company has indicated this policy may be revised once stability is achieved.
TCS HR head Milind Lakkad urged leaders to promote a positive work environment. In a communication to managers message he said, “I urge every leader to promote a positive and happy workplace where everyone looks forward to working and collaborating with others.”
Following TCS’s quarterly financial results, Lakkad announced updates to the variable pay structure, Entry-level employees will receive their full variable pay and mid- and senior-level employees will have variable pay tied to business performance.
