Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani, India's richest and second-richest individuals, witnessed a significant rout of their net worth due to market volatility this week.

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, and Adani Group boss Gautam Adani, India’s two richest individuals, witnessed a significant rout of their net worth, even as SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, the wealthiest man in the world, lost a whopping $11.4 billion of his wealth on Thursday.

According to market data, Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s richest man, saw a significant fall in his net worth, losing $907 on Thursday (March 27, 2025), according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Ambani, who lost $1.42 billion on Tuesday, has a current net worth stands at $90.9 billion, making him the 17th richest person globally, as per Bloomberg.

Similarly, Adani Group chief Gautam Adani, India’s second richest person after Mukesh Ambani, lost $1.91 billion on Tuesday, and another $662 million on Wednesday when the markets closed.

Adani is the 21st wealthiest in the world with a current net worth is pegged at $72.3 billion, as per Bloomberg.

The fall in the overall net worth of India’s richest was primarily due to recent volatility witnessed in the Indian stock market which closed deep into the red after the previous trading session ended on Wednesday, breaking its seven-day streak of closing in the green.

As per market data, Sensex closed 728.69 points, falling 0.93 percent, to close at 77,288.50, while the Nifty plunged 181.80 points or by 0.77 percent, reaching 23,486.85.

Meanwhile, world’s richest man, Elon Musk, emerged as the biggest loser this week among the global rich, losing a staggering $11.4 billion, followed by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who lost $6.1 billion of his net worth.
