BSNL is trying to improve its image and compete with private telecom private players like Jio and Airtel.

BSNL has been improving its network and expanding its customer base. In recent months, BSNL has introduced new and affordable plans as per customer needs which added millions of new subscribers to its network.

Over the past six to seven months, BSNL has been making headlines. After the price hikes in recharge plans by private players, like Jio and Airtel, BSNL’s subscribers base increased. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia highlighted BSNL’s performance in the Parliament. Addressing the Rajya Sabha, the minister revealed that BSNL added 5.5 million new customers over the last six months.

He further stated that the government is making continuous efforts to make BSNL profitable and increase its customer base. According to the minister, BSNL’s subscriber count has increased from 85.5 million in June 2024 to 91 million by February 2025.

BSNL ‘Customer Service Month’

To improve customer relations and service quality, BSNL has declared April as ‘Customer Service Month.’ Under this programme they will gather feedback from customers across the country and utilise it to improve their services. BSNL’s various circles and units are actively participating in this campaign, and trying to give customers a superior experience based on their suggestions and feedback.

BSNL 5G Plan

BSNL is also focused on improving its network capabilities. The company plans to install 104,000 new 4G towers by June 2025, out of which nearly 80,000 have already been deployed. Following the complete rollout of its 4G network, BSNL is also planning to shift its focus to developing its 5G network. All BSNL’s 4G towers are based on indigenous technology and can be upgraded to support 5G connectivity.
