The state-owned telecom operator BSNL has gifted its users a fantastic New Year offer by introducing a highly affordable data plan. Just before the end of the year, BSNL has launched a recharge plan priced at Rs 277, offering customers 120GB of data valid for 60 days. This plan is expected to shake up the telecom market and pose a significant challenge to private players like Mukesh Ambani’s Jio and Sunil Mittal’s Airtel.

BSNL’s New Year Recharge Plan

BSNL’s Rs 277 recharge plan provides a total of 120GB of data, with a validity of 60 days. This translates to 2GB of data per day, making it a budget-friendly option for heavy data users. The plan is considerably cheaper compared to offerings from private operators like Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea. According to reports from November, BSNL’s user base has been growing steadily, with its affordable plans being a key factor. If the company continues to roll out such attractive offers, it could see a further increase in its customer base.

Plan Validity And Availability

BSNL has announced on its social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), that this data plan will remain valid for recharges made up until January 16, 2025. Only users who recharge before this date can avail themselves of the benefits. Once activated, the plan will remain valid for 60 days.

BSNL’s Competition To Mukesh Ambani And Sunil Mittal

This new plan not only provides excellent value for money but also raises the stakes for competitors like Mukesh Ambani’s Jio and Sunil Mittal’s Airtel. While Jio has already launched its own New Year plan, BSNL’s  Rs 277 plan might compel private operators to rethink their strategies and offer more competitive pricing.

BSNL’s Future Plan

BSNL is making rapid strides in upgrading its network infrastructure, particularly in the 4G and 5G segments. The company has already installed over 60,000 4G towers across India and has announced plans to roll out eSIM services. This move will particularly benefit Apple users and others who prefer the convenience of eSIM technology.

BSNL’s Rs 277 plan is a game-changer in the telecom market. Its affordability and generous data offerings make it an attractive choice for users, while also putting pressure on private telecom giants to up their game.
