New Delhi, June 16: To counter Reliance Jio’s disruptive offers, state-owned telecom firm Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has come up with its new Chaukka-444 plan that users unlimited data for 90 days. The offer can only be availed by prepaid users. Under the newly launched offer, BSNL is offering 4GB data per day at 3G speeds priced at Rs 444 with 90 days validity. This is the highest per day data limit being offered by any telecom operator in India. Under the Chaukka-444 scheme, one gigabyte of 3G mobile data will cost less than a rupee which is the lowest in the sector.

BSNL’s Special Tariff Vouchers (STV) – 444 is a follow up to previously launched STV 333 plan which offered customers 3 GB data per day. The company claims that the STV 333 aka Triple ACE plan got a ‘successful response’ and hence has rolled out the ‘444″, a new STV plan that offers unlimited data at 4GB per day at a recharge of Rs 444. The company in its statement said, “Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has introduced ‘BSNL Chaukka 444′”, a new STV, for truly unlimited data for 90 days as special promotional offer under prepaid mobile services”.

Reliance Jio’s entry in September 2016 created a storm in the telecom sector. The Mukesh Ambani-led telco launched lucrative offers to woo users and this forced other rival telecom operators to slash their tariffs. All major telcos that included Vodafone, BSNL, Airtel and Idea Cellular came up with attractive offers to retain their customers who were inclined towards switching to Jio. If you compare this 444 offer with the existing Reliance Jio plans on offer, Jio offers a prepaid offer for Rs 30 which has a validity of 84 days on first recharge. The Jio plans comes with free voice, unlimited 4G data at 1GB per day limit, and unlimited SMS.

Meanwhile, rival telcos are also in the fray of wooing users by launching various offers. Idea Cellular recently unveiled a new plan that offers 70GB of 3G data at Rs 396 while Vodafone launched its Ramzan special offer that gives users 25GB data along with unlimited calling at Rs 786 to its customers in select circles. Jio recently unveiled a new plan that offers 20 percent more 4G data to those users who buy select Lyf-branded smartphones. AS per a PTI report, Jio’s data tariffs remain the cheapest in the country in both prepaid and postpaid categories.
