New Delhi: Burger King has come up with a new deal that lets customers go to McDonald’s to order a Whopper for one-cent. Customers within 600 feet of a McDonald’s location can order the new one-cent Whopper deal on Burger King’s app. The deal which accepts mobile orders is meant for promoting the Burger King app, which has recently undergone a revamp.
According to a report by Business Insider, the company announced that their brand is “turning more than 14,000 McDonald’s into Burger King restaurants,” at a marketing campaign held on Tuesday. In a press release, Burger King said, “If a guest is inside one of these geofenced areas and has the new BK App on their device, the app will unlock the Whopper sandwich for a penny promotion.”
On Tuesday morning, Burger King tweeted saying, “brb going to McDonald’s.” The McDonald-themed deal was later explained through another tweet which said ‘how do you order a Whopper sandwich for a penny?’
Only those users who have downloaded the Burger King App can place an order for the deal. However, the deal which is available till December 12 is unavailable in Alaska or Hawaii, stated the company.
While McDonald’s has more than 14,000 fast-food locations across the United States, Burger King has about 6,600 locations.
