New Delhi: In a major development, the Modi government has given a huge gift to Central government employees. The Department of Posts under the Ministry of Communications has issued an official order announcing a productivity-linked bonus for the financial year 2024–25. The postal department employees will receive a bonus equivalent to 60 days of salary, according to the order. This move by the government not only acknowledges the hard work of its employees but also provides them with financial relief during the festive season.

Who will receive this bonus?

• Regular employees — Group C, Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS), and non-gazetted Group B employees.
• Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) — those who are working regularly.
• Temporary and full-time casual employees
• Employees who have retired, resigned, or gone on deputation after March 31, 2025, will also be eligible for this bonus.
• The order states that the Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) will be payable to all such employees as per the relevant provisions.

How will the bonus be calculated?

The Department of Posts has clearly explained the formula for bonus calculation.

For regular employees:

Bonus = (Average salary × 60 days ÷ 30.4)

However, the maximum salary considered for bonus calculation is capped at ₹7,000 per month.

For Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS):

The bonus will be determined based on their Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) and Dearness Allowance (DA).

For temporary or full-time casual workers:

They will receive an ad-hoc bonus based on an estimated salary of ₹1,200 per month.
