This project can be considered as a milestone for L&T as its the largest single contract ever received in its history of the company.
Infrastructure giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced on Wednesday that it has received an order from QatarEnergy LNG for its offshore hydrocarbon business. Contracts valued for Rs 15,000 crore is L&T as the largest order ever received.
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) constructed the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya. A temple is made without the use of metals like iron or steel. They also did design under the guidance of architect C.B. Sompura and project management consultant Tata Consulting Engineers.
"QatarEnergy LNG, the world's premier LNG company, has awarded an Ultra Mega Offshore Contract for the North Field Production Sustainability Offshore Compression Project to Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T) hydrocarbon business (L&T Energy Hydrocarbon-- LTEH)," the company said in a regulatory filing.
The deal further strengthens L&T's position as a global leader in delivering complex offshore energy infrastructure, reflecting the company's growing footprint in the international hydrocarbon sector.
The company classifies contracts above Rs 15,000 crore as 'ultra mega' orders. This order marks the largest single contract ever received by L&T, the filing said.
Under the contract, L&T will do engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of two offshore compression complexes, each comprising of large offshore platforms with compression and power generation facilities, living quarters, flare platforms, interconnected bridges, and other associated structures to be located at approximately 80 kms off the northeast coast of Qatar.
"We look forward to setting new benchmarks in project execution that will reinforce Qatar's position as a global LNG leader," L&T Chairman & Managing Director S N Subrahmanyan said.
L&T Chairman S.N. Subrahmanyan was at the centre of the controversy, when he had made a suggestion that employees should work 90 hours a week, including Sundays. He faced a huge criticism and a company HR issued clarification that his remarks were misinterpreted.
