New Delhi: The Delhi Development Authority will soon inaugurate the new housing scheme that offers 10,370 flats for sale, including over 1,000 three-bedroom and two-bedroom flats in Vasant Kunj area in Delhi. This year’s housing scheme can be accessed only through online, which includes the application process and further transaction. Notably, DDA had both online and manual application processes in their previous schemes. The offer includes 448 three-bedroom Higher Income Group (HIG) flats at an expected cost of Rs 1.5 crores to 2 crores and 579 two-bedroom MIG flats for Rs 50 lakh to 75 lakh. The housing scheme also includes the sale of over 8,000 Lower Income Group (LIG) flats in the same locality. There are 8,383 one-bedroom LIG flats for sale at Narela and Vasant Kunj. DDA has not finalised the date of launch. An official reportedly said that the advertisement for the 2019 housing scheme would begin from the first week of March and end before the election code of conduct is enforced. Meanwhile, there are 960 flats that are under construction at Pocket V, Block-A, Sector G-7/G8, Narela. These flats are specially reserved for the economically weaker sections. A report by Times of India quoted DDA spokesperson as saying, “These flats are under construction and only the work of water supply and sewage treatment plant is likely to be completed by July 2019.”
This housing scheme was approved at an authority meeting on Monday chaired by Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Anil Baijal. Besides, the authority declared its decision to waive 50 per cent of the maintenance charges of 10,748 LIG flats that were part of the housing schemes launched in 2014 and 2017. The allottees of these flats that are located at Dwarka, Rohini, Narela, Siraspur and Ramgarh Colony have been protesting against the small size of flats.
