Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor: Trial run likely to be conducted by NCRTC from Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar from November

New Delhi: The trial runs for the 12 km section between Sahibabad and Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar are slated to begin in November, said the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) on Tuesday, September 10. It also said that the New Ashok Nagar Namo Bharat station in Delhi is nearing completion.

“The construction work is now in its final stage and it is expected that the trial run for about 12 km section from Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar will start from November. Once operational, this station will enable seamless travel between New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South RRTS stations in about 35-40 minutes,” the statement said.

About the Delhi section of RRTS corridor

The Delhi segment of the NCRTC corridor includes a nine-kilometre elevated viaduct and a five-kilometre underground section. With the elevated viaduct construction complete, work is swiftly progressing on track laying and overhead electrification (OHE). This 14-kilometer stretch features the Sarai Kale Khan, New Ashok Nagar, and Anand Vihar stations, all of which are nearing completion, reports FE Online.

“The concourse and platform levels are complete and the roof work is progressing. Track-laying activities are almost complete till New Ashok Nagar. OHE and signalling activities are also in progress,” said a statement from NCRTC.

A 90-meter-long and 6-meter-wide foot overbridge (FOB) is also being constructed to connect the New Ashok Nagar Namo Bharat station with the nearby metro station. This FOB will link the metro station’s concourse level directly to the NCRTC station, allowing passengers to transition seamlessly between transport modes without leaving the station premises.

NCRTC is constructing two additional FOBs at the station to further enhance connectivity and accessibility.
