New Delhi: The net worth of the world’s richest person, Elon Musk, has surpassed $750 billion (Rs 67.18 lakh crore). Musk has become the first person in the world to reach this net worth figure. Previously, on December 16, Musk’s wealth had reached $600 billion (Rs 54 lakh crore).
This increase came after a Delaware Supreme Court ruling that increased Musk’s $56 billion Tesla pay package to $139 billion. The Forbes Billionaires Index currently shows Musk’s net worth at $649 billion. This is equivalent to the total wealth of India’s top 40 richest people.
Furthermore, Musk’s wealth is greater than the combined wealth of the next richest tech billionaires in the world, i.e., Larry Page with $252.6 billion, Larry Ellison with $242.7 billion, and Jeff Bezos with $239.4 billion.
The first reason is the restoration of Tesla’s $56 billion pay package. In 2018, Tesla granted Musk a $56 billion stock option package. In 2024, a lower court cancelled it, but in December 2025, the Delaware Supreme Court reinstated it. This package is now worth $139 billion. This resulted in the biggest jump in Musk’s wealth, exceeding $700 billion for the first time.
The second factor is the SpaceX valuation reaching $800 billion. According to Reuters, an internal share sale within the company valued SpaceX at $800 billion. Musk owns approximately a 42% stake in SpaceX. If the company lists on the US stock market at a valuation of $800 billion, Musk’s stake alone could be worth more than $336 billion.
The third and final reason is Tesla’s share price and the new $1 trillion pay package. The surge in Tesla’s share price and the approval of Musk’s $1 trillion pay package by shareholders in November 2025 also boosted his wealth. More than $340 billion was added to Musk’s wealth in 2025. He holds a 12% stake in Tesla, which directly increases his wealth as the share price rises.
Tesla shares have climbed 13% so far in 2025, and Musk’s stake in Tesla is now worth approximately $197 billion. His artificial intelligence startup xAI is also in advanced talks to raise $15 billion in new equity at a valuation of $230 billion.
