California, July 11:  Entrepreneur Elon Musk has confirmed his purchase of the domain X.com from online payments system provider, PayPal. The domain was confirmed to be purchased for ‘sentimental’ reasons by the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla.

The domain was started by Musk as his second ever company in 1999. After its launch, X.com functioned as a financial services provider. However, It later merged with Confinity and launched the successful business, PayPal. Musk left behind both, the domain name ‘X.com’ as well as the company in 2001.

Having moved on from the single letter domain itself, PayPal did not have much use for it.The purchase of X.com was confirmed by PayPal, whose spokesperson is reported by BI as having stated, “We are delighted to sell the domain X.com back to its previous owner, Elon Musk.” Meanwhile, Musk himself has confirmed that he has no plans for the domain as of now.
