Elon Musk, had become the world’s first individual who surpassed a net worth of $400 billion. But now he is one of the biggest losers in the share market, as his wealth declined by over $100 billion in just four months. His net worth is now at $297.8 billion, after a huge decline from $400 billion. Tesla’s stock is struggling over Musk’s controversial actions linked with Donald Trump’s administration, according to media reports.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Musk’s wealth dropped $4.4 billion on Monday in a single day due to Tesla’s stock decline. This recent loss made him the sixth-largest loser in the world in recent times. Musk’s net worth has now fallen below $300 billion since November.
Tesla’s stock has been behind Musk’s financial loss. Due to market volatility, weak Q1 vehicle deliveries, and reduced investor confidence, the company’s valuation has been impacted. The stock fell 9.2% on Monday to $217.41, and this continuous decline has taken out 55% off Tesla’s value since December.
Economic concerns are majorly related to President Donald Trump’s tariff policies that have led to this fall. Tesla initially surged after Trump’s election, but Musk’s role as a Trump adviser led to several protests against Elon Musk.
Musk’s social media activity and open stands have impacted his potential customers and existing Tesla owners. The brand also faced huge criticism which resulted in declining sales and lower consumer trust. Over the weekend, Musk supported a ‘zero-tariff’ agreement between the U.S. and Europe, while his brother, Kimbal Musk, criticized current tariffs over high prices.
The global market selloff has impacted Tesla badly. Analysts have downgraded Tesla’s sales and earnings in forecasting weak Q1 results which are the lowest since 2022.
Elon Musk’s $100 billion loss within four months shows volatility linked to his company Tesla. While Musk remains one of the wealthiest individuals in the world, the decline in his net worth creates caution about his company’s future performances.
