New Delhi: World’s richest man and the owner of social media platform X Elon Musk has done it again, he has surprised or should we say, bamboozled X users and people around the world with his latest antic.
Elon Musk has rechristened himself on his own X platform, he is now “Kekius Maximus”. This was announced by the man himself on X as he also replaced his profile picture with the popular “Pepe the Frog” meme. In Musk’s profile image, Pepe is dressed as a warrior and holding a video game joystick.
For the uninitiated, Pepe the Frog is a famous comic character and Internet meme created by cartoonist Matt Furie.
For the past few months, Musk has been very active on X as he kept on posting content of different genres. He also asks for public opinion on a slew of issues.
Musk did not give any reason for this sudden change but he has recently been posting on the meme coin Kekius Maximus which drew attention from investors in the cryptocurrency market.
Meme coins are cryptocurrencies that are inspired by internet memes or trends. About two years back, Musk made the Shiba Inu-inspired Dogecoin a popular player in the meme coin market after frequently tweeting about it.
According to CoinGecko data, the memecoin Kekius Maximus (KEKIUS) shot up by over 500% in just a few hours after Musk changed his name on X.
As for Kekius Maximus, it is a meme-inspired cryptocurrency token that blends humour with decentralised finance (DeFi). KEKIUS is heavily inspired by internet culture, particularly the Pepe the Frog meme and the Maximus character from Gladiator.
According to CoinGecko, the token operates across multiple blockchain platforms like Ethereum and Solana, with a current market capitalisation of over $85 million.
The name Kekius Maximus is said to be a confluence of the popular Pepe the Frog character with the character of Maximus from the movie Gladiator.
