Is the world’s richest man, Elon Musk, planning to buy McDonald’s and CNN? Several reports are circulating that Musk, the chairman of Tesla, has reportedly taken over the fast-food giant and is now eyeing a purchase of CNN. These reports began emerging after it was alleged that the media organisations are Democrat-friendly, particularly following Donald Trump’s win in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
Musk is a strong supporter of the Republican Party and has reportedly donated millions to campaigns in support of Donald Trump. Trump reportedly repaid him by offering a plum post in his upcoming administration, where Musk will lead the new Department of DOGE, alongside Vivek Ramaswamy.
McDonald’s grabbed headlines during the election campaign when Democratic candidate Kamala Harris claimed that she had worked for the fast-food chain, a statement Trump refuted while addressing a rally from one of its outlets. Now, reports are circulating that Musk has bought the food giant and will soon purchase CNN as well. On October 30, a video surfaced claiming that Musk had acquired McDonald’s.
But the veracity of these claims are unfounded. Neither Musk nor McDonald’s made any announcement in this regard and it is being seen as fake news which is a challenge for Meta.
The other claim about CNN has also not been corroborated by the billionaire. It was reportedly said that Musk accepted a $3 billion deal for CNN, but there has been no confirmation, except for comments from social media users who took the satire shared from a Gridiron Glory account as fact.
