Flipkart to disrupt quick commerce market, big tension for Blinkit, Zepto, Apollo, and Tata 1MG, to enter…
E-commerce giant Flipkart is gearing up to re-enter the quick commerce market, causing concern among companies already dominating the segment, such as Blinkit, Zepto, Apollo, and Tata 1MG. Flipkart plans to venture into the medicine delivery sector by introducing a fast delivery service for prescription and over-the-counter medicines.
Flipkart To Partner With Local Pharmacies
The e-commerce giant has started partnering with local pharmacies in major cities for smooth business. It is improving its logistics network in order to deliver medicines within the promised timeframe.
Notably, this major move by Flipkart will put it in direct competition with existing major players who are dominating the market in a specific segment.
Strategic Move
Flipkart is planning to develop ‘Flipkart Minutes’ into a quick commerce platform to compete with other quick commerce players, Economics Times quoted an executive.

“Medicines is a hitherto untapped opportunity since existing platforms deliver products in an hour to even 3-5 days. Flipkart will provide the platform for these orders and undertake the last mile fulfilment with its logistic partners, while the product will be sold by the local pharmacies who have all the valid licences,” the executive told ET.
Flipkart’s Acquisition Of Sastasundar Marketplace
In 2021, Flipkart made a pivotal move by buying a majority stake in SastaSundar Marketplace, a Kolkata-based online pharmacy. This move marked Flipkart’s entrance into the healthcare sector, opening up avenues for the firm to expand its product offerings to include drugs and various health-related items. This active participation of Flipkart in the fast-paced world of commerce pharmacy is likely to ramp up competition and spark innovation. As a result, consumers may enjoy faster delivery services, a broader array of products, and potentially more attractive pricing.
It is noteworthy that, Flipkart Minutes was launched in India’s silicon city – Bengaluru in August this year. it is currently running in major cities such as Delhi-NCR and Mumbai.
Now, the e-commerce giant is planning to expand it in Kolkata, Pune, Hyderabad, and Chennai.
