BSNL update: In a significant good news for the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) users, the state owned telecom service provider has installed a total of 97,068 4G sites and 93,511 sites are ‘ON-Air’ in line with the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative. Also, the Minister of State for Communications, Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, announced that BSNL will soon roll out an additional 23,000 4G sites. BSNL’s plan for indigenously developed 4G site
As per a report carried by news agency IANS, BSNL has placed a purchase order for indigenously developed 4G sites for pan-India deployment and the supply of 4G equipment has started from September 2023, Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, Dr Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, told the Lok Sabha in a reply to a question.
5G upgradable from a technology perspective
“The equipment is 5G upgradable from a technology perspective. To further enhance the network infrastructure and service quality, BSNL is executing the various schemes of the government, such as 4G Saturation Scheme, Border Out Post (BOP)/Border Intelligence Post (BIP), LWE Phase-I upgradation, etc,” he added.
What is BSNL planning for increased internet connectivity?
Moreover, in order to increase its internet connectivity, BSNL is aiming to upgrade all 4G towers to 5G within eight months. Also, readers can note that BSNL had earlier issued an Advance Purchase Order (APO) to Tejas Networks for 18,685 sites in May this year.
