Indian passengers will soon have high speed trains and they will enjoy the journey with several amenities that were never before. The Indian Railways awarded the contract to manufacture high speed train sets to BEML. 

These train sets are going to be the first indigenously designed and manufactured in the country, having a high speed of 280 kmph. The induction of these modern trains will take a step beyond the journey of Indian Railways. 

The new trains will be equipped with advanced technology and modern amenities where a passenger can enjoy a pleasant journey. The trains will have fully air-conditioned coaches and chair car configuration. Apart from this, the passengers will enjoy their journey on reclining and rotatable seats, infotainment systems. 

The Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai awarded the contract to BEML for the design and manufacture and commissioning of two train sets.

Each train set will comprises of 8 coaches and the cost of per coach is Rs 27.86 crore. The total value of contract is Rs 866.87 crore. The BEML is expected to deliver the two trainsets by the end of 2026.

BEML is also manufacturing the first ten Vande Bharat sleeper trains too. India’s first bullet train is also being constructed between Ahmedabad and Mumbai by NHSRCL.
