Bengaluru, Dec 2: Infosys, India’s leading information technology company, on Saturday announced the appointment of Salil Parekh as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director. Parekh’s appointment comes months after the resignation of former CEO Vishal Sikka. Salil was serving as the chief of French IT Company, Capgemini. The ouster of Sikka had compelled its founder members to look for a new face to head the company. Apprising the Bombay Stock Exchange about its decision, Nandan Nilekani said Parekh has nearly three decades of global experience in the IT services industry and has a strong track record of executing business turnarounds. “We are delighted to have Salil joining as the CEO & MD of Infosys. “He has a strong track record of executing business turnarounds and managing very successful acquisitions. The Board believes that he is the right person to lead Infosys at this transformative time in our industry,” Nandan Nilekani, Chairman of Infosys’ board, said in a filing on the Bombay Stock Exchange. Who is Salil Parekh?
Parekh holds a master of Engineering degreee in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University He is a Bachelor of Technology degree holder in Aeronautical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. Salil S Parekh will replace U B Pravin Rao, who had earlier replaced Vishal Sikka as the interim CEO and Managing Director.
