New Delhi: Gold deposits have been found in Odisha’s Deogarh (Adasa-Rampali), Sundargarh, Nabarangpur, Keonjhar, Angul, and Koraput districts. According to the reports, exploration work is also underway in Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Sambalpur, and Boudh. Odisha’s Mining Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena informed the Assembly that gold reserves have been discovered in the state.

There is no official information yet on how much gold exists in Odisha’s mines. However, geologists estimate that there could be around 10 to 20 tonnes of gold, and the actual quantity may be even higher.

• The Odisha government, in collaboration with the Odisha Mining Corporation and the Geological Survey of India (GSI), is planning to utilize these reserves.
• Preparations are underway for the auction of a gold mining block in Deogarh, marking a major step forward for Odisha’s mineral sector.
• GSI has started work in areas like Adasa-Rampalli and Gopur-Gazipur, where gold mines may also exist.
