New Delhi: Elon Musk’s company, Starlink, has begun hiring in India. The company is looking for candidates for finance and accounting roles. This is a major step towards launching satellite internet service in the country. It is believed that Starlink’s service could begin in late 2025 or early 2026.

All jobs are for Bengaluru

All jobs are in Bengaluru, which will become Starlink’s main operational hub. The company has posted roles such as payments manager, accounting manager, senior treasury analyst, and tax manager. Only local candidates can apply. There is no remote or hybrid option.

Starlink demoed its service in Mumbai

Starlink is setting up ground infrastructure in India. The company has begun security trials to comply with government regulations. A demo of the service has been given to law enforcement agencies in Mumbai. This is necessary before spectrum allocation.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and TRAI are currently working on the spectrum framework. Starlink has sought approval to install three gateway stations in Mumbai, Chennai, and Noida.

After launch, the company will expand the gateway network to 9-10 locations. New sites are planned in cities like Chandigarh, Kolkata, and Lucknow. This will provide connectivity to every corner.

Office also taken in Mumbai, monthly rent Rs 3.52 lakh

Starlink Satellite Communications has leased 1,294 square feet of space on the ground floor of Boomerang, a commercial building in Chandivali, reports Economic Times. The lease is for 5 years, starting October 14. The monthly rent is over Rs 3.52 lakh and will increase by 5% every year. The company has deposited a security deposit of Rs 31.7 lakh. This means the business is set up, and final approval is needed.

Starlink’s entry could reduce prices

India’s satellite broadband market is still nascent. Companies like Jio and Airtel are also entering the market, but Starlink’s technology is globally recognised. Starlink’s entry into the Indian market will increase competition, potentially lower prices, and improve connectivity.
