New Delhi: In a massive development, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured an ultra-mega contract from Adani Power Ltd to set up eight thermal power units for 6,400 MW of new generation capacity. It is important to note that the company has categorized the order under the ‘ultra-mega’ category. This means that the order value is more than Rs 15,000 crore.

As per the statement released by the company, the said order involves complete design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, and commissioning of Boiler-Turbine-Generator (BTG) packages, along with auxiliaries and associated mechanical, electrical and control & instrumentation (C&I) systems.

“In today’s dynamic energy landscape, where India’s demand for reliable and affordable power continues to grow, this order from the Adani Group reinforces our role as a leading partner in building the country’s critical energy infrastructure,” Subramanian Sarma, Deputy Managing Director & President, L&T said.

Here are some of the key details:

  • The order comprises of setting up eight thermal units, each with a capacity of 800 MW, totaling 6,400 MW of new generation capacity.
  • The said order involves complete design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, and commissioning of Boiler-Turbine-Generator (BTG) packages
  • L&T’s Energy Hydrocarbon Offshore vertical secured an ultra-mega order from an unnamed entity in Middle East on July 29.
  • The order comprised of engineering, procurement, construction, installation & commissioning (EPCIC) of offshore structures, along with the upgradation of existing facilities.
  • The company also secured a ‘large’ construction order from Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority
  • It has also secured residential and office space construction contracts in Mumbai and Muscat.

It is important to note that this contract announcement comes days after Adani Power announced that the company receipt of Letter of Intent from Bihar State Power Generation Co. Ltd. to develop and supply 2,274 MW of electricity to the state from a proposed 2,400 MW thermal power project in Bhagalpur district.
