LPG, Fuel Prices Are Expected To Increase

The fuel and LPG prices are expected to increase due to the fresh tension between the United States and Iran.

President Donald Trump recently made a big statement, saying that the MoU (peace deal) with Iran is 'over'. However, US officials have reaffirmed Washington's commitment to continue peace talks with the Middle Eastern country.

President Trump, in a Truth Social post, threatened to launch "thousands" of missiles at Iran if the country tries to assassinate him.

However, the prices of LPG and crude oil are expected to increase if a fresh blockade on the Strait of Hormuz is announced.

Oil Firms Lost Nearly Rs 75,000 Crore On Fuel Sales Between Apr-June

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on Wednesday said domestic LPG consumers, as well as regular petrol and diesel users, remain protected from the impact of rising global fuel prices, even as commercial LPG cylinders and select fuel categories have seen price increases.

In a post on X, the Ministry said, "Prices of Commercial LPG cylinders, used by industries and hotels, are deregulated, market determined and revised normally on a monthly basis. Their consumption is less than 10% of the total LPG consumed in the country."

Oil Firms Lost Nearly Rs 75,000 Crore On Fuel Sales Between Apr-June

State-owned oil marketing companies' (OMCs) suffered a total loss of Rs 74,781 crore upto June 30 for selling petrol, diesel, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) below cost in the period April-June 2026, amid a spike in global crude oil prices that raised input costs, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference on the West Asia crisis, the Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, said OMCs' total under-recovery, which includes petrol, diesel, and LPG from the previous year (Q4FY26 & Q1FY27), stood at Rs 2.1 lakh crore. He highlighted that amid the ongoing West Asia crisis the country's fiscal framework successfully shielded consumers from the full impact of global crude oil volatility with fuel continued to be sold domestically at prices below cost.
