Chinu left her home due to family issues at the age of 15. With only Rs 300 and a bag of clothes, she faced many struggles, including spending two nights at a Mumbai railway station but she did not lose hope. Chinu worked as a waitress, receptionist, and door-to-door saleswoman to make the ends meet. During these times, Chinu earned just Rs 20 per day by selling knives and coaster sets. Later in her life, she worked at a clothing store, where she learned valuable lessons about customer service and behavior, which helped her become a great entrepreneur.
Taking her popularity to the next level, Chinu made an appearance on Shark Tank India, Season 2, where she secured an investment of Rs 1.5 crore from Shark Namita Thapar (Executive Director, Emcure Pharmaceuticals) and Vineeta Singh (Co-founder, Sugar Cosmetics).
Chinu Kala launched Rubans Accessories in 2024 with an initial investment of Rs 3 lakh in a mall space and now after more than 10 years, the company has sold over 10 lakh accessories and has become one of the leading jewellery brands in the country. Talking about her journey, Chinu Kala established her company in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Kochi. As of 2025, Chinu owns a Rs 100 crore jewelry brand and lives in a 5000 sq ft house.
