We often hear about the success stories of people who have overcome significant struggles or come from humble backgrounds. Today, we discuss one such story — that of Ravi Pillai, who runs his business in various parts of the world. Two years ago, Pillai’s name made headlines on social media when he bought a new helicopter worth Rs 100 crore. He became the first Indian to own a helicopter from Airbus.

Ravi Pillai, chairman of RP Group, purchased an Airbus H145 and took delivery of the chopper two years ago in Kerala’s Kovalam. The chopper took its first flight from Kovalam to Ashta Mudi and Pillai also enjoyed the ride for the first time. Ravi Pillai has several properties across the state and he owns The Raviz Resorts. 

The Airbus H145 can accommodate two pilots and seven passengers. The unique feature of this helicopter is that only 1,500 such helicopters have been manufactured worldwide. It is powered by two Safran HE Ariel 2C2 turboshaft engines, capable of delivering 785 kW of power. The helicopter can travel at a speed of 246 km/h and can fly up to 20,000 feet above sea level. Pillai is the first Indian to own an Airbus helicopter.

The wealthiest businessman has a Rolls-Royce Ghost to which he had purchased in 2011. He used the luxurious sedan for his work purposes. The car is maintained as it looked 14 years back. 

Ravi Pillai’s garage has more super luxury sedans and among them, there is a Mercedes-Maybach S 600. He has an older-generation model but it is equipped with all features and five a perfect sedan look. The Maybach S 600 offers several amenities like ambient lighting, seat massagers, an integrated perfume system, and a panoramic sunroof. 

Pillai also owns a BMW 5 Series, which is considered the least expensive car in his garage. During his daughter’s wedding, several luxury cars were displayed, including an Audi A6 Matrix. Pillai gifted his daughter a Mercedes Maybach S500 as a wedding present. The Land Rover Range Rover Autobiography SUVs were also displayed at the wedding.
