OYO Rooms founder Ritesh Agarwal tied the knot with 29-year-old Geetansha Sood in a grand ceremony held at a five-star hotel in Delhi in 2023. The wedding reception witnessed the presence of several notable personalities, including Vijay Shekhar Sharma, CEO of Paytm, and Masayoshi Son, the CEO of SoftBank Group, one of OYO’s largest investors.
Ritesh Agarwal, one of India’s youngest billionaires, started OYO in 2013 at the age of 19. While Ritesh is a well-known name in the business world, not much is known about his wife, Geetansha Sood. Lets take a closer look at who she is and her background.
Geetansha Sood comes from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. She serves as the director of Formation Ventures Private Limited, a private company registered with the Registrar of Companies, Kanpur, on August 22, 2020. The company operates with an authorized share capital of Rs 1 lakh and paid-up capital of Rs 1 lakh, according to media reports.
According to MyCorporateInfo, the company currently has two directors, including Geetansha Sood.
As of now, there is no accurate information available about Geetansha Sood’s net worth. However, her husband, Ritesh Agarwal, is a billionaire and one of the youngest on the list of Indian billionaires.
OYO, which Ritesh founded nearly a decade ago, has grown to operate in more than 800 cities across 80 countries, making it one of the fastest-growing budget hotel franchises globally.
Ritesh Agarwal married Geetansha Sood on March 7, 2023. The grand wedding and reception were attended by many corporate leaders, including Vijay Shekhar Sharma (Paytm CEO) and Peyush Bansal (Lenskart CEO). Sharma also shared pictures from the wedding on social media, while Union Minister Prahlad Patel congratulated the couple with a shared photo.
Ahead of the wedding, Ritesh Agarwal, along with his mother and then fiance Geetansha, visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence to invite him to the ceremony. Pictures shared online showed the couple seeking blessings from the Prime Minister by touching his feet.
Ritesh Agarwal was born into a Marwari family in Odisha. He moved to Delhi in 2011 to pursue his education but dropped out after two years. He became part of the Thiel Fellowship program, which granted him a $100,000 fellowship. Ritesh used this funding to establish and grow his business, which eventually became OYO Rooms.
