Nikhil Kamath, who co-founded Zerodha with his brother, Nithin Kamath, has earned recognition for his philanthropic ventures, and earned a spot in the EdelGive-Hurun India Philanthropy List as one of the youngest philanthropists in India. As per the list, Nikhil, 38, donated Rs 120 crore to various charitable causes through the Rainmatter Foundation, making him one of the top donors in the country, alongside other young philanthropists such as Vivek Vakil (35) of Asian Paints and Adar Poonawalla (43) from the Villoo Poonawalla Charitable Foundation.
The 2024 EdelGive-Hurun India Philanthropy List list names of young philanthropists in the country who have made significant monetary contributions to various charitable causes this year.
Adar Poonawalla is listed as the highest donor with a donation of Rs 142 crore, while Nikhil and and his older brother, Nitin Kamath, 45, rank 15th on the list of contributors who have donated over Rs 100 crore. The list also features prominent names from top business families like Ambanis and Nadars, who have contributed generously to various charities.
The EdelGive-Hurun India Philanthropy List 2024 showcases Nikhil Kamath as one of top donors amongst India’s young philanthropists, with an impressive contribution of Rs 120 crore through the Rainmatter Foundation. Other prominent names in the list include, Vivek Vakil from Asian Paints, who donated Rs 8 crore, JK Cements’ Madhavkrishna Singhania (36) with a Rs 8 crore donation, and 38-year-old Sarandhar Singh of Alkem Laboratories, who contributed Rs 7 crore.
Notably, the names of top young business leaders like Isha Ambani, her brothers Anant Ambani and Akash Adani, Rishaad Premji, Karan Adani, and similar, are missing from the EdelGive-Hurun India Philanthropy List, indicating that young entrepreneurs coming from non-business families are taking the lead in philanthropic ventures.
Nikhil Kamath, 37, is the youngest Indian billionaire, boasting a net worth of $3.1 billion, while his older brother, Nithin Kamath, 45, is the fourth youngest billionaire in India on the Forbes list with a net worth of $4.8 billion.
