According to the Hurun Global Rich List 2025, India is the third-largest hub for billionaires globally wherein a total of 284 individuals have a combined wealth of Rs 98 trillion which is one-third of the nation’s GDP.
Shashank Kumar and Harshil Mathur, aged 34, have emerged as the youngest billionaires with a net worth of Rs 8,643 crore.
Shashank Kumar: He is an alumnus of IIT Roorkee, Kumar co-founded Razorpay in 2014 to simplify online payments in India. Before this venture, he worked as a software development engineer at Microsoft.
Harshil Mathur: He is an IIT Roorkee graduate and co-founded Razorpay alongwith Kumar. Before starting the company, he was a wireline field engineer at Schlumberger.
Under their leadership, Razorpay has become a big player in India’s fintech sector, which gives payment solutions for businesses. By December 2021, the company raised approximately $375 million in a Series F funding round, valuing it at $7.5 billion.
Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries is the richest person in India and Asia, with a net worth of Rs 8.6 trillion. Recently his wealth declined by Rs 1 trillion compared to the previous year. Gautam Adani, chairman of the Adani Group is at the second spot with a net worth of Rs 8.4 trillion.
Roshni Nadar Malhotra, chairperson of HCL Technologies, has become the first Indian woman who entered in the global top 10 female billionaires list, ranking fifth worldwide, with a net worth of Rs 3.5 trillion.
Mumbai leads Indian cities with the highest number of billionaires, with a total of around 90 individuals.
