Malik Riaz’s journey from clerk to becoming one of Pakistan’s richest persons in Pakistan is inspirational.

Malik Riaz Hussain is Pakistani real estate tycoon, is the founder of Bahria Town It is Pakistan’s largest privately held development company. 

He was born into a middle-class family, his father was a private contractor. His father was a businessman, but his business didn’t work. So Riaz had to leave school after completing matriculation. He started working as a clerk with the Military Engineering Service (MES) in Rawalpindi. Along with this job Riaz also worked part-time as a painter.

In 1995, he established his own construction company, Hussain Global, and made a deal with the Pakistan Navy’s charitable trust, Bahria Foundation. It was to build a gated community for the Navy. However, the agreement ended in 2000.

Pakistan Navy’s Notice To Riaz 

After Malik Riaz’s contract with the military ended, the Navy’s Bahria Foundation issued a legal notice to Riaz and asked him to not use words like Bahria, Maritime,and Navy for his company’s construction projects. 

In 2001, the Supreme Court of Pakistan ruled in his favor, allowing him to use the name ‘Bahria’. Since then, Bahria Town has worked on major projects in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Murree, and Karachi. Bahria Town Karachi 2 is now the largest private development project in Pakistan.

Malik Riaz Personal Life

Malik Riaz has been married twice. His first wife passed away when he was young, and he later married Beena Riaz. Together, they have one son and four daughters. His son, Ahmed Ali Riaz, born in 1978 is the CEO of Bahria Town.
