Bikaji’s snacks, especially its bhujia, have become a favorite across households in India and beyond. But the inspiring story of the man behind this brand, Shiv Ratan Agarwal, is less well-known. A visionary entrepreneur from a small town in Rajasthan, Shiv Ratan Agarwal turned a family legacy into a globally recognized business empire.

Shiv Ratan Agarwal inherited the snack business from his grandfather and father. His family’s connection to the iconic Haldiram brand dates back to 1940 when his grandfather, Gangabishan Agarwal, founded Haldiram in Bikaner. Later, his father, Moolchand Agarwal, managed the business alongside his four sons Shivkishan, Manoharlal, Madhu, and Shiv Ratan. While three brothers continued expanding Haldiram, Shiv Ratan decided to take a different path, establishing Bikaji as a standalone brand in 1993.

Shiv Ratan’s Journey

Shiv Ratan’s journey was unconventional. He left school after the 8th grade to join the family business of making bhujia. Armed with hands-on experience rather than formal education, he started his own company, Shivdeep Products, in 1986, naming it after his son, Deepak. Seven years later, he launched the Bikaji brand, which has since become one of India’s leading snack brands.

Bikaji’s Success Story

The brand’s roots may date back 80 years, but Bikaji’s success is firmly rooted in Shiv Ratan’s innovation and entrepreneurial vision. From a small enterprise in Bikaner, he scaled the business into a Rs 19,621 crore market-cap company. Today, Bikaji’s snacks are not only loved across India but are also exported globally, catering to a growing international demand.

According to Forbes, 73-year-old Shiv Ratan Agarwal has a real-time net worth of Rs 15,279 crore. Despite limited formal education, his dedication and business acumen have made him one of the most recognized names in the Indian food industry.
