At that time, there was a lack of good healthcare facilities in the country, and people used to go abroad for treatment.

Born in Chennai, Dr. Reddy studied MBBS at Stanley Medical College and received training as a cardiologist in the United States. A letter from his father in the 1970s inspired him to return to India. In 1979, the death of a patient due to inadequate facilities shattered him so much that he decided to start Apollo Hospitals afterward. He also vowed that no one would die due to lack of treatment again.

Today, Apollo Hospitals is not just a hospital but a large healthcare empire. Apollo has 71 hospitals, over 5000 pharmacy outlets, 291 primary care clinics, a diagnostic network, and a digital health platform across the country.
