Recently, India’s richest businessman, Mukesh Amban and his son, Akash Ambani, visited the office of ‘TWO’, a startup backed by Reliance Jio, in the US. An Indian origin founder of TWO’, Pranav Mistry. TWO has gained significant attention for launching a family of cost-efficient, multilingual generative AI models called SUTRA, which are designed to excel in over 50 languages and offer diverse capabilities, including speech, search, and visual processing.
TWO recently launched ChatSUTRA, an app similar to ChatGPT, which is powered by their SUTRA AI models. The startup raised a $20 million fund in February 2022 from Jio Platforms and South Korean internet conglomerate Naver.
Reliance Jio has been a partner from the start of this launch. Akash Ambani, chairman of Jio Infocomm, has also taken an interest in the startup’s growth. “Jio’s vision is to bring the power of AI through its services. Being a Jio partner gives us access to this market,” Mistry said in an interview with AIM.

Built on TWO’s proprietary machine learning technologies, SUTRA Avatar is going to transform industries like customer service, education, entertainment, retail, and marketing.
For example, in customer service, the avatar can handle inquiries in real-time, while in education, it can offer real-time feedback during virtual lessons. It also provides experiences in virtual reality and gaming.
In a move that directly challenges global players like Google Cloud, Reliance Jio has already announced its entry in the AI cloud market with the launch of the Jio AI-Cloud They have given a welcome offer, which provides Jio users with up to 100 GB of free cloud storage starting this Diwali. This offer is part of Jio’s larger vision of providing accessible AI services at a national level and advancing the development of India’s AI infrastructure.
