The July price hikes by major telecom operators led to significant shifts in their user bases. Some customers switched to BSNL, while others surrendered their mobile numbers altogether. In response, telecom companies like Mukesh Ambani’s Jio, Sunil Mittal’s Airtel are introducing innovative plans to retain users and attract new subscribers.

Amid rising telecom costs, Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone-Idea have introduced affordable recharge plans priced under Rs 100 to attract and retain users. These plans offer high-speed internet at competitive rates and aim to counter recent changes in user numbers following price hikes in July.

Airtel ₹99 Plan

Airtel’s ₹99 plan provides unlimited internet access for 2 days. Subscribers can enjoy 20GB of data daily without any usage cap. This plan can also be availed alongside an existing recharge, eliminating the need for an additional recharge. It is especially popular among users with heavy data needs.

Jio ₹86 Plan

Jio has launched an ₹86 recharge plan, offering similar benefits. Users receive 20GB of data per day, comparable to Airtel’s offering. This plan has gained traction as one of the most affordable options for high-speed internet in India.

Government Measures Against Scams

In parallel, the Indian government is implementing measures to curb telecom scams. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) recently issued a warning advising users to avoid answering international calls from unknown numbers, as they could be fraudulent. Telecom companies have also been instructed by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to identify and block calls or messages that could harm users.
