New Delhi: The bullet train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad is eagerly awaited by the people, as it will be the country’s first bullet train. Rapid work is underway from Gujarat to Maharashtra for this. Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnav was in Nadiad on Saturday, March 1, to review the bullet train project.

There is something interesting about the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train. It has a direct relation with the small town of Hapur in Uttar Pradesh. Let’s check it out.

A 200-meter long ‘Make in India’ steel bridge is being launched near Nadiad for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, which has been prepared in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh. The bridge site is about 1200 km away from Hapur and approximately 700 pieces of the steel structure have been transported there by trailers. The first span of this steel bridge is being launched this month and is expected to be completed by August 2025.

Two spans of 100 meters each

The bridge has two spans of 100-100 meters and is being constructed on National Highway-48 (connecting Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai), it is 14.3 meters wide and 14.6 meters high. This steel bridge weighs approximately 1500 metric tons. The bridge has a lifespan of 100 years.

The work of joining steel parts will be done using the tor shear type high strength bolt technology, which is designed for 100 years. The steel bridge will serve highways, expressways, and rail.

Bullet train to cross 28 bridges

A total of 28 steel bridges are being constructed in this entire project, of which 11 steel bridges are in Maharashtra and 17 are in Gujarat. The construction of steel girders will allow trains to pass at a speed of 320 km per hour.

Features

The National High Speed Rail Corporation is constructing India’s first high-speed rail line, which is 508 km long, between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, with a 352 km route passing through nine districts in Gujarat and three in Maharashtra. The total length of the project in Maharashtra is 156 km and 4 km in Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Twelve stations are being built in this corridor. The speed of the bullet train will be 320 km per hour and its design will be according to a speed of 350 km per hour. The bullet train will cover the distance between Mumbai and Ahmedabad in two hours.
