No Bank Holiday On Sunday? RBI Directs THESE Banks To Remain Open On March 31; Check List Here
RBI has directed certain banks to remain open on March 31st, despite it being a Sunday. This decision comes as the last day of the current financial year, 2023-24, falls on a Sunday.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has issued a request to all agency banks handling government business to keep their branches open on March 31, 2024. This decision comes as the last day of the current financial year, 2023-24, falls on a Sunday. The Central bank said that the Government of India has specifically asked for all branches dealing with government receipts and payments to remain operational on this day to ensure that all transactions related to the fiscal year 2023-24 are accounted for. “The Government of India has made a request to keep all branches of the banks dealing with Government receipts and payments open for transactions on March 31, 2024 (Sunday) so as to account for all the Government transactions relating to receipts and payments in the FY2023-24 itself,” the RBI said in a statement.
Agency banks have been instructed to maintain all branches engaged in government business open on March 31, 2024, and are advised to publicize the availability of banking services on this exceptional day.
