India’s Biggest Philanthropist: Mukesh Ambani is the richest man in India and among the wealthiest men in the world. The Ambani family is also known for their philanthropic works. The businessman made a whopping Rs 626 crore donation in the fiscal year 2025. It means that the Ambanis have donated Rs 1.7 crore per day this financial year. But even after the massive donation, Mukesh Ambani didn’t secure the top position. The top position is secured by HCL Technologies founder Shiv Nadar and his family. According to EdelGive and Hurun Philanthropy List 2025, the Nadar family donated 2,708 crore in the past year. It means that the Shiv Nadar donated Rs 7.4 crore per day. Notably, this is the fourth time in a row Nadar has ranked first in the philanthropy list.
Founder and Chairman of HCL Technologies, Shiv Nadar, and his family donated Rs 2,708 crore in the financial year 2025, contributing an additional Rs 555 crore this year. Mukesh Ambani followed in second place with a donation of Rs 626 crore in the fiscal year 2025. The third spot is taken by the Hinduja family, who increased their donation by Rs 179 crore from FY24.
As per the list, over the past five years Nadar donated Rs 10,122 crore, increasing the donations in FY25 by 26 percent from FY24. Most part of the HCL founder’s donation went to the education front.
The foundation was established in the year 1994, showcasing the Nadar family’s efforts to bring change in people’s lives. The donations primarily support education, arts and culture.
As per EdelGive and Hurun Philanthropy List 2025, Mukesh Ambani donated Rs 626 crore in FY25. In the last five years, Gautam Adani has donated Rs 1,408 crore via the Adani Foundation. The Adani Foundation primarily focuses on education. Notably, the Adani Group ranked fifth on the list.
