OpenAI BIG UPDATE: Sam Altman says OpenAI to exit ‘CODE RED’ by…, GPT-5.2 model to impact…

Open AI Update: Moving a step further in Artificial Intelligence, Open AI, the company that created ChatGPT, has announced its most advanced AI model named – GPT 5.2. The company stated that it’s its best offering yet for people who use AI models for everyday professional use. As per OpenAI, GPT 5.2 is far better than its earlier models at daily official work such as creating spreadsheets, building presentations, perceiving images, writing code and understanding long context. The company stated that the new AI model will be available for users starting Thursday under the ChatGPT chatbot and in its application programming interface (API).

Open AI’s New And Improved GPT-5.2 Model

It is worth noting that the company’s arch-rivals, Anthropic and Google, also introduced their new AI models in November. This had prompted OpenAI to alarm a “code red” to improve its ChatGPT models and other projects.

It’s part of a major race among top tech companies to build the most popular and powerful AI model as more people and businesses start using AI in their daily work and routines. OpenAI is depending on its GPT family of models to justify its USD500 billion valuation and more than USD 1.4 trillion in planned spending.

“We announced this code red to really signal to the company that we want to marshal resources in one particular area, and that’s a way to really define priorities and define things that can be deprioritized. We have had an increase in resources focused on ChatGPT in general, I would say that helps with the release of this model, but that’s not the reason it’s coming out this week in particular,” Fidji Simo, CEO of applications at OpenAI said.

What Did Sam Altman Say

During an interview with CNBC, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said the new release of Google’s Gemini 3 model had not affected his company’s metrics. He said that his company OpenAI will exit its code red by January.

“I believe that when a competitive threat happens, you want to focus on it, deal with it quickly,” Altman said.

According to OpenAI, the GPT-5.2 model will be available in Instant, Thinking and Pro versions.
