Rabindra Jayanti Bank Holiday Today: As per the bank holiday calendar issued by the RBI, banks will remain shut in West Bengal for Rabindranath Tagore Birth Anniversary on May 8, 2024. Rabindra Jayanti, the birthday of the renowned Bengali poet, Rabindranath Tagore, is celebrated on May 8 every year. Apart from Bank holiday, a public holiday has also been declared in West Bengal for Rabindranath Tagore Birth Anniversary. On this day, banks will remain shut across the state in West Bengal.
Apart from May 8, banks will remain closed on May 10 due to the Akshaya Tritiya festival. This festival is believed to be auspicious for new beginnings and is celebrated across the country.
Banks will also remain shut on May 11 as it is the second Saturday of the month, a designated bank holiday in India.
Then comes May 12 which is a Sunday, a weekly bank holiday across India. On this day, banks will be closed across the country.
Rabindra Jayanti is celebrated to mark the birthday of Rabindranath Tagore, a prominent Bengali poet, writer, and philosopher. This day is significantly celebrated in the Indian state of West Bengal and Bangladesh.
