In a strategic move Tata Group-owned app, BigBasket has entered in the quick commerce electronics segment. From September 20, BigBasket has started delivering the newly-launched iPhone 16 in just 10 minutes to customers in Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai. This marks BigBasket’s entry beyond the groceries sector and is going to create competition for other quick delivery space apps like Blinkit and Swiggy.
BigBasket Partner With Croma For iPhone 16 Delivery
BigBasket has partnered with another Tata company, Croma, for the delivery of the iPhone 16 models. Customers will now be able to order mobile phones, laptops, gaming consoles like PlayStation, and other electronics such as microwaves and receive them within 10 minutes. This quick delivery service will help the BigBasket to establish their infrastructure and customer base above their regular niche of delivering household essentials.

According to BigBasket Co-Founder Hari Menon, the first iPhone 16 order was delivered within just seven minutes. This rapid delivery service is not limited to the iPhone 16; other popular electronics like the Galaxy S24 series and PlayStation 5 are also available for fast delivery.

iPhone 16 series went on sale in India, when several customers crowded to Apple’s stores in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai and Saket in Delhi. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, priced at Rs 79,900 and Rs 89,900 respectively, are available for purchae through Apple stores and authorized retailers. Higher-end models like the iPhone 16 Pro start at Rs 1,19,900, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max is priced at Rs 1,44,900.

The iPhone 16 series comes in Black, Pink, Teal, Ultramarine, and White. Customers can purchase the premium smartphones through Apple’s official website, Apple Stores in Delhi and Mumbai, and other authorized outlets across India.
BigBasket’s Dual App Strategy
BigBasket currently operates two apps: the main BigBasket app and BBdaily, which is a subscription-based service. Within the main app, there are two distinct sections named as “BigBasket Supersaver,” which offers 2-3 hour deliveries, and “BBnow,” which focuses on ultra-fast 10-20 minute deliveries. This expansion into electronics delivery will give a big boost to BigBasket’s offerings and help them to expand their market.
