Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is closing its office in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh after 13 years, a decision revealed by media reports. The company reportedly shut the office in June 2025 and is now gradually shifting assets from the location. This news came into light after TCS employees met Madhya Pradesh Finance Minister and Deputy CM Jagdish Devda to inform him of the situation.

The closure of TCS’s Bhopal branch can majorly impact the city’s economic and social life, as TCS conducts business worth Rs 500 crore annually from Madhya Pradesh and nearly 1,000 employees face job uncertainty.

TCS To Shut Down Office In MP?

The reason behind closing the Bhopal branch isn’t clear, but employees report that they’re being notified about transfers. According to the report by thesootr, the Finance Minister of Madhya Pradesh Jagdish Devda wrote a letter to the TCS CEO, stating he’d learned TCS will close its Bhopal branch by September 2025. In the letter, he expressed that the state government wants TCS to maintain its Bhopal branch, as it does in Ahmedabad, Patna, Lucknow, Bhubaneswar, and Kochi. He noted this closure could give a revenue loss of crores to the state and thousands could lose their jobs.

What MP May Lose?

The closure of the TCS office not only affects jobs but may also impact economic blow to the state. The office was crucial for industry and commerce in Madhya Pradesh, with TCS’s Rs 500 crore business contributing major tax revenue to the state. Around 1,000 employees worked at the Bhopal office, and now they face employment uncertainty. If TCS closes the office completely, these employees will have to find new jobs which can lead to economic crisis.
