Ratan Tata, one of India’s most iconic business figures, passed away on October 9, leaving behind a legacy of remarkable contributions to business and society. His will outlines the future of his wealth, properties, and personal assets, upholding the Tata family’s tradition of philanthropy.

A major part of Tata’s wealth, including his stakes in Tata Group companies such as Tata Motors and Tata Sons, will be transferred to the Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation (RTEF), a non-profit organization founded in 2022, according to a media report. This aligns with the Tata family’s tradition of supporting social causes, ensuring that the wealth continues to benefit society. Tata Sons chairman N. Chandrasekaran may head the foundation, furthering Tata’s charitable legacy.

Ratan Tata Property In Mumbai

Tata’s famous Colaba residence, Halekai House, is owned by Ewart Investments, a subsidiary of Tata Sons. The future of this landmark property will be determined by Ewart. Tata also designed a bungalow in Alibaug, though plans for this property remain undisclosed. Additionally, a two-story family home in Juhu, Mumbai, which has been vacant for over two decades, might soon be sold after being listed for years.

Ratan Tata Will: Shantanu Naidu, Rajan Shaw, Subbiah 

Ratan Tata’s will also make specific provisions for those who were close to him. His trusted assistant, Shantanu Naidu, is named as a beneficiary. Tata forgave Naidu’s loan for his overseas studies and relinquished his stake in Goodfellows, their joint venture. Tata’s personal staff, including his cook Rajan Shaw and his butler Subbiah, are provided for in his will. Rajan will also look after Tata’s beloved German Shepherd, Tito, with funds designated for the pet’s care.

Ratan Tata Assets & Luxury Cars Collection

Among Tata’s assets are his beach villa in Alibaug, a custom-built 2,000-square-foot house, and fixed deposits worth over Rs 350 crore. His prestigious car collection, comprising 20-30 luxury vehicles, is currently stored at his Colaba residence and the Taj Wellington Mews. Plans for the car collection remain unconfirmed, but it may either be auctioned or displayed in a Tata Group museum.
