Mumbai, April 13: Known for its disruptive offers and services, Reliance Jio on Tuesday announced its Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer which provides customers with free services for three months. The new offer by Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Jio is similar to the Summer Surprise. The Summer Surprise offer allowed its users’ unlimited 4G internet complimentary for three months ending June 2017 in addition to free voice calls and other services.  Reliance Jio’s new Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer provides 3 months usage with a one-time recharge with tariffs Rs. 309 and Rs. 509 respectively. Along with the Jio customers, non-Jio Prime users can also avail the benefits at an extra cost.

The new offer comes soon after the company agreed to withdraw the Jio Summer Surprise offer after a TRAI order asked for it be cancelled. Under the Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer, new customers, as well as the existing ones, can avail benefits of unlimited data, free SMSs, Jio apps subscription, and free voice calls. The Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer is basically aimed at customers who were unable to avail the Jio Summer Surprise offer benefits before it was pulled officially. The customers just need to subscribe to the Jio Prime service, and buy recharge of Rs. 309 or Rs. 509 under this offer. As listed on Jio’s website, the plans states that Jio Prime subscribers will get 84GB for 84 days on a first recharge of Rs 309, while those who recharge for Rs 509 will get 168GB for 84 days.

While Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio is offering Unlimited Voice call, 84 GB- 4G data and 168GB- 4G data under the new Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer, its rival companies are leaving no stone unturned to retain their customers. Jio’s main rivals in the market are Vodafone, Airtel and Idea amongst various others.  As per reports, the other service providers in the market faced the onslaught as Jio came up with luring offers since its launch. These rival companies were, however, happy when Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) ordered Reliance Jio to withdraw its Jio Summer Surprise offer.

Reliance Jio rival Bharti Airtel Ltd. which is India’s another biggest mobile-phone service provider, has asked the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) to intervene after rival Reliance Jio started an offer to lure customers that was similar to a previous programme stopped by authorities. Airtel said that Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd.’s Dhan Dhana Dhan plan violates the spirit of the regulator’s directive and essentially continues with a similar plan now masquerading under a different name, Livemint reported.

Under the new offer, the users need to subscribe to Jio Prime membership plan and buy the Rs. 309 or Rs. 509 recharge by April 15 in order to avoid discontinuation of services. Those who are already part of the Jio Summer Surprise promotion will not get the benefits of Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer as they are already enjoying three months of free usage of services under the Jio Summer Surprise offer. All the Jio plans come with unlimited free local and STD voice calls to all mobile operators, free roaming, free SMS to all local and STD operators.

After the TRAI ordered that Reliance Jio should be pulled as it does not comply with the existing regulatory framework, the company agreed to cancel the offer, but continued enrolments till four days later.

How does Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer work?

  • The users under the new Jio offer will be able to get the free Reliance Jio services for 84 days with the Rs. 309 and Rs. 509 recharges.
  • This offer is mainly targeted at customers who were unable to avail the Jio Summer Surprise offer benefits before it was pulled officially by TRAI.
  • In order to avail the benefits, customers who are yet to sign up for Jio Prime or who are new users will have to buy the Rs. 408 (Rs. 99 Jio Prime subscription + Rs. 309 pack) or Rs. 608 (Rs. 99 + Rs. 509) recharge.
  • Once the recharge is done, the customer can use Reliance Jio services for 84 days. The tariffs are only marginally more expensive than the original recharge values of Rs. 303 and Rs. 499 for the 1GB and 2GB data benefits, respectively.

With the Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer, customers will be able to continue enjoying the free services till June, the same as users of Jio Summer Surprise offer users. Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio has continued free services since it started operations. The Jio free services compelled rivals to lower rates as it became difficult to retain customers due to Jio’s luring offers. Jio’s first offer was the Reliance Jio Welcome Offer which came into effect from September 5 and lasted till December 31.

After Jio free services coming to an end on December 31, the company announced the Jio Happy New Year Offer. Under this offer, the company extended free services for another three months till March 31. After the Happy New Year Offer came to an end, Ambani announced a new subscription service named Jio Prime, which would provide members several benefits and then came the Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan Offer which is quite similar to the Jio Summer Surprise offer. Those users who are part of the Summer Surprise offer cannot enrol in the new Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan Offer as both include usage till end of June.
