New Delhi, September 1: The delivery of the much awaited Reliance 4G-enabled feature phone– the JioPhone has been delayed by over a week amid heavy demand. The JioPhone that was to be delivered starting the first week of September will not be able to reach customers before September 10. The feature phone which is being offered effectively free at a deposit of Rs. 1,500 is believed to disrupt the telecom sector further. Adding to the happiness of customers, an individual will have to pay only Rs 500 at the time of booking while the rest Rs 1000 needs to be paid at the time when the JioPhone is delivered to the customer.  Reliance Jio also said it would inform those interested in JioPhone about the bookings window when it resumes. Taking to twitter, Reliance Jio said, “Millions have pre-booked the JioPhone. Thank you! Are you ready to experience the Digital Life with JioPhone? Register here & know when pre booking resumes”. However, Reliance Jio has not officially announced any details about reopening of the JioPhone pre-booking process. Retailers were quoted saying by India Today that JioPhones were to hit stores around the first week of September but a delay of one week is expected. It should be noted that customers will get the phone on first come-first serve basis. If the information given by retailers is to be believed, Jio is expected to start the pre-booking in another 3 to 4 days. Customers who have already booked a JioPhone can check the status of their order by calling 18008908900. After calling, a customer will ask you for the mobile number using which was used for booking the JioPhone. Once you enter the mobile number and confirm it, it will tell you the status of your booking. If not this, you will receive an SMS regarding your booking status. As soon as the pre-booking started on August 24, Consumers wishing to get the JioPhone experienced glitches on the Jio’s website and also had complains about the Jio app not functioning properly. The pre-booking has been suspended as of now but customers who wish to book a JioPhone can register their interest on Jio’s website. “Users can fill a form on the Jio website – jio.com – to submit their “expression of interest for Jio Phone offered by Reliance Retail Ltd”, the telecom company said on its website. Once the form is submitted, a user shall receive an email / SMS confirmation upon registration.

Customers can also register their interest in JioPhone online by clicking on the “Register Now” link. A Customer will then have to share details like name, email, phone number and area pincode and register his/her interest for the 4G feature phone. Jio informed that the User shall be notified of the pre booking date separately vide email/SMS.
