RRTS Rapid Rail Metro: As the NCR Transport Corporation has submitted its conclusive report for the 72.3km RRTS-cum-metro corridor from Ghaziabad to Noida International Airport (NIA), the RRTS rapid rail metro corridor is now expected to be operational by April 2030.
After the RRTS rapid rail metro corridor is completed, it will significantly reduce travel time from Ghaziabad to the Noida airport to 37 minutes for fast service and 50 minutes for normal service.
Apart from this, the daily commuters will be able to reach Sarai Kale Khan from NIA in 56 minutes and IGI airport in 66 minutes, while the travel time to Meerut will be 72 minutes.
The RRTS Rapid Rail Metro corridor will have two major sections. The first section will be from Ghaziabad RRTS station to Ecotech VI near Kasna and the second section will be from Ecotech VI to the ground transport center (GTC) of Noida airport.
In the initial phase, this corridor will have 22 stations, with the possibility of adding 13 more stations later, as per the draft plan.
In the beginning, the first section that will cover 39.4 km will feature seven RRTS and 11 metro stations and the second section, that will cover 32.9 km, will include four RRTS stations, with a provision for adding ten more stations, comprising one RRTS and nine metro stations.
After completion of the corridor, the rapid rail trains will make halts at RRTS stations only, and other metro trains will stop at all stations along the route.
The corridor will be operational after receiving approval from the Uttar Pradesh government and the state officials have outlined plans to concurrently construct both sections, with the estimated cost of the corridor being Rs 20,043.6 crore and an expected construction timeline of five years.
