Sensex, Nifty defy red streak; open in green during early trade
On a positive note, the number of rising stocks were greater than the declining ones in both the National Stock Exchange as well as the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Mumbai, April 11: After three continuous days of sliding downwards both the Sensex and the Nifty managed to open in green during the early trading. After closing at 29575.74 and 9181.45 respectively, India’s top two indices gained by and 60.35 and 2.05 points respectively to open at 29,637.77 and 9,183.50 each.
On a further positive note, the number of rising stocks were greater than the declining ones in both the National Stock Exchange as well as the Bombay Stock Exchange. As the market opened today, some of the immediate gainers highlighted in the 30-strong Bombay Stock exchange include Infosys, Adani Ports, Reliance and Asian Paints that witnessed a gain of 1.37, 1.17, 1.04 and 1.03 percentages respectively.
On the other hand, the major losers as recorded by the Sensitive Index are tata Steel, Bajaj auto, Mahindra & Mahindra and Hindustan Unilever that lost by 1.16, 0.66, 0.62 and 0.37 percentages each to open at Similar numbers were recorded in the National Stock Exchange wherein the top performers included BPCL, Infosys, Infratel and Indian Oil Corporation that gained by 1.4, 1.4, 0.88 and 0.63 percents each.
The companies that were well in red as recorded by Nifty included ZEEL, Tata Steel, ACC and Hindalco that each lost out by 1.06, 1.00, 0.83 and 0.82 percentage points. Stocks of liquor manufacturers and sellers continued to slide down after the announcement of a total, phase-wise prohibition in Madhya Pradesh.
