There are a total of 2,781 billionaires out of a population of a global population of around 8 billion people, and amongst those 2,700-odd list of uber-rich people, only three are only three who have have a net worth which is equal to or exceeds the mind-boggling figure of $200 billion. As per the latest figures published by Bloomberg, only three people are part of this super-exclusive club; Elon Musk — the CEO of Tesla and the world’s richest person, followed by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and more recently Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, who has recently joined the $200 billion club.
Mark Zuckerberg is the new kid in the $200 billion club, having an estimated net worth of exactly $200 billion. Only Elon Musk, with a net worth of $268 billion, and Jeff Bezos, who is worth $216 billion, are ahead of the Facebook co-founder, according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
As per the index, Zuckerberg, who recently secured a spot in the $200 billion club, is wealthier than former Microsoft CEOs Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer, and other major names in the tech industry, including Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison.
Besides breaking into the coveted club, the Meta Inc. CEO has also exponentially increased his wealth during 2024. According to Bloomberg, Mark Zuckerberg, 40, has added a whopping $71.8 billion to his fortune in 2024, with majority of his riches being derived from his shares in Meta Inc.
Zuckerberg has a 13 percent share in Meta Platforms which amounts to about 345.5 million shares, which accounted for the majority of his fortunes this year, according to Fortune.
Mark Zuckerberg, who is famously known to take a token $1 as “salary”, owing to his major stake in Meta Inc, and “other compensation” which contributes to his massive fortune.
According to Fortune, Zuckerberg took home $24.4 million in “other compensation”, and coupled with his Meta shares, increased his wealth by $71.8 billion in 2024.
Notably, Mark Zuckerberg has publicly declared to donate his fortune to charity. In December 2015, when Zuck’s wife Priscilla Chan gave birth to a baby girl, the tech magnate announced that he will donate 99 percent of his Meta stocks to charitable causes.
Earlier, in September 2010, the billionaire donated $100 million of Facebook shares to the Newark, New Jersey, public school system. The Facebook co-founder has also donated 36 million shares to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, and the couple are donated another $3 billion in an attempt to end, cure or manage all diseases by the year 2100, according to Bloomberg.
