The Mumbai airport was once considered the busiest airport in India. However, this honor has now been claimed by Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, which holds the title of the busiest airport in the country. IGI Airport is now connected to 150 cities

Thai AirAsia X has started (Delhi- Bangkok-Don Mueang) direct flight and has become 150 destinations with Delhi’s IGI airport. The airline will operate its services biweekly on the route and the passenger will get services of the A330 carrier. The airline is planning to extend it to four times a week in mid of January 2025. 

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said that IGI airport has connected with 20 new destinations in the last few years. The cities with IGI Airport connected are-Bali, Denpasar, Calgary, Montreal, Vancouver, Washington, Dallas, Chicago, O’Hare and Tokyo’s Haneda airport. In the last ten years, the number of transit passengers has doubled which has consolidated the airport’s position as transit hub. 

All the long-haul 88 destinations are connected with Delhi’s IGI airport. As per reports, 56% weekly flights of all the long-haul destinations are being operated from Delhi airport. Around 50% passengers pick Delhi as their gateway for the longest destination. Each year, the Delhi airport connects 40 lakh passengers to international destinations.
