Saudi Aramco has taken a big step forward in its green energy efforts by awarding a major contract for the first phase of its Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) hub to Larsen & Toubro’s Energy Hydrocarbon (LTEH) division. This contract, worth about USD 1.5 billion, is part of Aramco’s plan to cut down carbon emissions and expand its CCS capacity under the Accelerated Carbon Capture & Sequestration (ACCS) initiative.

This project plays a crucial role in Aramco’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact and reinforcing its place in the global shift towards cleaner energy. While CNBC TV18 reached out to L&T for confirmation, the company has not yet responded.

L&T has been performing well, with its total orders reaching Rs. 5.46 lakh crore by the third quarter of FY25—showing a 20% rise compared to last year. However, the company is seeing fewer project opportunities for the fourth quarter, expecting Rs. 5.51 lakh crore in orders compared to Rs. 6.72 lakh crore in Q4 FY24, a 12% drop. This decline is mainly due to fewer projects in the hydro and carbon-lite sectors.

Despite this short-term dip, L&T remains confident about its growth. The company has set a 10% target for order inflows and believes it can exceed this, thanks to its strong market presence and diverse range of projects.
